Batik -- real Indonesian Culture

Do you know BATIK?? Do you know that Indonesia has many different cultures? One of the thousand of thrm is batik. Batik  is a cloth that traditionally uses a manual wax resist dyeing technique. Javanese traditional batik, especially from Yogyakarta and Surakarta, has notable meanings rooted to the Javanese conceptualization of the universe. Traditional colours include indigo, dark brown, and white, which represent the three major Hindu Gods (Brahmā, Visnu, and Śiva). This is related to the fact that natural dyes are most commonly available in indigo and brown. Certain patterns can only be worn by nobility; traditionally, wider stripes or wavy lines of greater width indicated higher rank. Consequently, during Javanese ceremonies, one could determine the royal lineage of a person by the cloth he or she was wearing. Batik has some original motif called the 'pakem' or 'standard' in english.

I like batik, loved it. While wearing them I felt very Indonesian, the true javanese girl.. When seeing people making batik, admiration satisfy my mind. My boy started to learn to make batik, and I also learned from him. Since then I really liked the batik. So I not only can wear them alone, at least I was able to learn to make it. :-)
